Petition to Cancel
Donald Trump’s Trademarks
It seems to me that being President of the United States is inconsistent with holding trademarks that could easily inhibit political speech. Trump’s trademarked property, Mar A Lago, for example, serves as “White House South” for the President. Yet, the trademark on Mar A Largo might prevent people from freely making use of the name, images of the property, etc. in discussing or criticizing the President.
Therefore, I sent a petition to the Commissioner of Trademarks and the Director of the US Patent and Trademark Office asking that more than 100 of Donald Trump’s personally-held trademarks be cancelled.
Here is the full petition for anyone interested.
